“Mama I really have to go” Tiresa’s shoulders deflated slightly “but i will invite her when I am ready…” she shrugged, “…besides whats wrong with an extra wedding present…although knowing how skimpy Bella is it will probably just be a plastic plate from the two dollar shop good enough for the dog to eat out of.” With that Tiresa turned on her heel and dashed out the door without even a goodbye.

Mama Rose looked down at the guest list on the bench. Scanning through the 100 plus names carefully written in order of priority – for instance who had the most money and would give generous wedding gifts to those who had the least – Mama Rose was surprised to find that there was not just one but two very important names missing from the list – Isabella’s, well that was expected, but also her own.

With a burdened sigh she took the list and picked up the phone dialing her eldest daughter, Flo, to get started on organising the catering.

She might have missed out with Isabella and created a monster in Tiresa but she certainly wasn’t going to delay on giving her 3/4 blood Samoan grandchildren the cultural grounding their own mother had missed out on and that included a traditional pacifica wedding with all the bells and whistles.

“Shit!” Tiresa chipped her nail on the car handle, as she threw her body into the front seat of the beamer and slammed the car door.

“I can tell that went well.” Tiresa glanced up at her fiancees’ tall muscular mass sitting on the drivers side, a smirk settled on his full gorgeously hunky lips.  His intelligent dark eyes creased with amusement.

“Yea no it was ok…its just my blasted sister!” Tiresa pulled the seatbelt tight across her body.

“Oh” he turned the engine on “whats up?” Mika asks as he settled his arm on the back of her seat and looked over his shoulder.

“Mama Rose, gave me the riot act about inviting her to our engagement party and the wedding.”

“Well that’s going to be awkward” he replied turning on the indicator as he prepared to back out into oncoming traffic. “With Tupa as my bestman sparks are gonna fly” he whistled through his teeth as he imitated a missile flying and its detonation.

“Exactly! Is it too much to actually want to enjoy my wedding day the last thing i need is my uptight half sister putting a damper on things”

“Is she still skiteing on about Tupa and the alleged assault?”

“Last time we spoke fully she told me it was my fault they got together in the first place and that I had pushed her into a relationship with him… she even accused me of part and parcel of the whole ordeal like i deliberately did it to bring her down a peg…whats with that?” Tiresa talked fast, her pitch raising with each syllable, without waiting for an response she continued in a flurry. “She thinks I was jealous of her!..Pfft like i would ever by jealous of that nobody! And the way she has the nerve to lecture me about Mac and how i should visit him… like i don’t have better things to do!”

“I suppose its unavoidable, really she is part of your family…we will deal babe don’t worry” He tried to be supportive and encouraging as he patted her patronisingly on the knee.

“I suppose things haven’t been that bad with her lately…although we hardly speak, just niceties really.” Leaning back in the seat Tiresa calmed down. “We were close once…” she mused “that’s the shame of it… I do miss her… I really do” she repeats, almost as if trying to convince herself of its authenticity “but I just don’t know how to deal with her lately… she’s changed”
